Someone take me back and flop me on my beanbag chair in front of my mini fridge with a bottle of Boone’s Farm because I have never wanted to go back to college and hang my roomie more than this books has. And I want the 80s back and my scrunchies neatly arranged in my Caboodle with a mega sized can of Aqua Net and Jon Bon Jovi blasting on the radio. This book has made me feel REALLY old but at the same time a warm fuzzy overload of feelings! But….. I do NOT want to go back to dating. No thank you. Pass!

There’s 3 types of dudes you guys – it’s that simple. Some are prickly, jerky forks, others are handsome, dashing knives, and lastly the poor ‘friend-zone’ dorky spoons. Oh but there is a whole other sub-set of guys in the utensil classification system (hello corkscrews and chopsticks!) but those 3 – that’s the gist of basically all men. Amy takes her Dad’s super cute theory college pep talk, and carries it though school and beyond – spreading the tableware tools philosophy wherever she goes. Her roomie and BFF Veronica, is skeptical that the sortation system could ever be that easy – cause let’s face it, dating and boys, and all of that nonsense, is just so darn complicated!

We follow these two besties throughout 4 years at Syracuse University in the 80s and 90s (yes, it is totally tubular, you guys!) and I’ve never wanted so badly to just squish myself up and climb into a book before. You learn, and love, and laugh with Amy and Veronica, and their friends and families, and, of course, their dates. It’s so warm and fuzzy and full of nostalgia, while these two college roomies seek out their gorgeous, shiny & strong elusive steak knives.

It’s awesomely fun story of love and friendship and makes you want to send your BFF a mixtape and get yourself wrapped up in a phone cord from talking so long.
